J-Word Play #13 (Answer) + Need your input!

Last week's riddle was:

鏡の中にいる虫は何でしょう？

Answer




が(moth)


"What insect is in the middle of (a) mirror?" Well, the correct approach here is to recognize that the question isn't asking what insect is in the middle of "a" mirror, but in the middle of "mirror." The Japanese word for mirror is 鏡(かがみ). が means "moth."

    Thanks, Sixmats. Yeah, right now a gift card seems like the best possibility since I could just email the winner the redemption code and not have to bother with mail. I'm open to other suggestions too, though.

    I, too, am on board with the Japanese iTunes card, although I speak almost no Japanese, know a mere .0003% of the written language, and would answer every riddle with a sheer pulled-out-of-my-ass guess.
